Mijn persoonlijke blogtips.
  • Maar: What happened to music writing this year? (via Job) En The Year in Pop, ook een hele mooie: 'Pop performers can become truly famous by building their careers themselves online, maybe more efficiently and faster than a major company can help them to do.' En: 'If I worked at [Rihanna’s label], and I’m looking at those numbers, and I had just flown a bunch of journalists around the world to make sure that my pop star had a tremendous amount of presence, and she can’t even sell as many records as a guy who basically can’t crack the Top 20 in the Billboard R&B/hip-hop song chart, I’m really stressed.' [...] 'That’s the new authenticity. You found it by yourself or with a few of your friends online.' Poeh! The Guardian is minder positief: Worst ideas of 2012, making all pop sound the same (via Marco), want pop music is in a sickly state.
Uitstekend artikel: 'The majority of people have a basic desire to be honest - and I mean actually honest, rather than some limited definition based strictly on the law. [...] Give us convenient content at a reasonable price, and we’ll buy it. Sell the stuff without DRM, for a few dollars. Make it available to everyone, worldwide, at the same time. Then take the massive, unending pile of money, forever. Or keep doing what you’re doing, and enjoy your ceaseless war of attrition, ever-rising tide of negative public opinion, and eventual forced irrelevance. And get fucked.'
